Fibromyalgia FAQs
What type of doctor is Dr. Rusnak?
Dr. Rusnak is a doctor of chiropractic. She is not a rheumatologist.
What is the difference between Dr. Rusnak’s treatment and a rheumatologist?
Dr. Rusnak does not prescribe medications. She uses natural and safe supplements, herbs, homeopathy, and manual therapies to help heal the subset of fibromyalgia that you are experiencing. Most cases of fibromyalgia do not respond well to medication and typically make them feel worse.
What type of blood work and other laboratory orders does Dr. Rusnak order?
Most blood work can be ordered through our clinic and drawn at Lab Corp. See our lab testing page to see a comprehensive list. Dr. Rusnak also does a lot of blood testing for chronic illnesses such as Lyme, EBV, CMV, HSV, etc. She also recommends saliva or urine testing for hormone levels and adrenals. Hair testing is also done for heavy metal levels and mineral balance.
I have been to a chiropractor before, how would this be any different?
Dr. Rusnak’s structural approach to treating fibromyalgia has proved to be very successful at improving posture, decreasing pain, decreasing sympathetic muscle tone, and improving range of motion and flexibility. She switched from standard chiropractic care to this unwinding technique when she saw the profound results it had on her fibromyalgia patients.
If I already see a chiropractor, can I continue to see them and start care here?
Absolutely! If you are happy with your chiropractor there is no need to change! Dr. Rusnak offers many other ways to treat fibromyalgia and this may help your chiropractic care be even more beneficial!
Do I have to have chiropractic care to be part of the treatment program?
No, although we feel it is very beneficial Dr. Rusnak understands that when you are extremely sore chiropractic care may need to be limited.
Do I have to live in Seattle to start care at Fibromyalgia Seattle?
You do not have to live close to our office. Dr. Rusnak has patients from all over the state that come for care. Initially, we recommend a couple face to face appointments but after that many appointments can be over the phone.
